The Element Wiki Project will consist of the construction of a wiki page on your element. The wiki will have the following components:
A home page to introduce the element
There will be four (4) pagesthat will give information about:
History/ Discovery/ Origin of the element: Show person who first identified element if known, how that person identified element, any other history of element
The atomic structure of the element: How many protons, electrons, neutrons - show a picture of the atom here, and this picture can only be used here - not on another page. List important parts of the element's structure. Include the element's location on the periodic table - group and period.
The physical and chemical properties of the element: Separate the physical properties from the chemical properties. Don't give any properties that you don't understand what they are. Pictures can also be used to illustrate properties. When listing the chemical properties, include how the element reacts with other elements.
The uses of the element: Again, pictures are good illustrations of element usage.
You will import at least four (4) images into the Wiki. Four images is the minimum requirement. More images will lead to a better grade.
You will have at least four (4) research sources for the project. These are to be copied; the information used is to be highlighted; and you will use MLA formatting to cite the information. You will be required to use at least one (1) book source for information (more than one is acceptable). You will need to cite any information gathered for the project and will be creating the Works Cited document with NoodleTools. This will be word processed and graded by Ms. Crafton. You will turn in your Work Cited to me on the due date, and I will get them to Ms. Crafton. The Works Cited will be part of the grade of the project.
You will keep a project folder. All of the research information used in the project will be placed in the folder. You will highlight the information used in the project. This will be a component of the overall grade for the project.
You will be observed on a daily basis and receive a score for the use of your class time. Your time in the library is valuable, and you are not to waste it. This will be reflected in the project grade.
Your project is due onMonday, November 3, 2014, no later than 5 pm.
